I think SSD5 is much better suited for your needs than the MT, but the MT is so small and easy, that I'd say give it a try! You have nothing to lose except one hour or so for playing around with it. the groove patterns in the free library are fancy to the point of being unusable (there's no "basic" straight 4/4 rock rhythm! It's all ghosts and flams and jungle madness). It would require quite a lot of processing for modern pop or metal. Best Free, MT Power Drum Kit 2, Sampled, 58 MB, FREE. Good as-is for softer genres or "vintage" 70's rock sounds. After nearly a month of reviews, Im crowning the winners in my best drum plugins roundup. the free kit sounds quite soft and "acoustic".

This simplicity means I can teach my drummer how to lay down a basic rhythmic idea with it, without requiring him to have a full course in audio engineering. a selection of decent basic groove patterns and fills, in 4/4 and 6/8.no alternative sound choices: it's this one kit, love it or leave it.the sound is pre-processed punchy modern rock/metal.basic extra articulations: open/half/closed/pedal hi-hat, shot/side-stick snare, regular/bell ride, regular/stopped crash.the kit is basic: kick, snare, hi-hat, 3 toms, ride, 2 crashes, splash, china.a pretty decent GUI with a basic mixer and not much to fiddle around.no installer or extra junk: it's just a zipped folder.Although male drummers dominate the drumming world, this doesnt diminish the fact women can play drums equally well as men. On the flip side, it's not very flexible, because it's punchy and pre-processed. Review: Tama Starclassic Bubinga Exotix Crimson Tigerwood Fade Drum Set.
It definitely has a rock/metal in-your-face sound, which is actually pretty good as-is for the genre. It seems to be a kit meant for metal and hard rock.
